Tawang, October 30, 2026: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has said that transgressions along the Line of Actual Control continue to occur, but maintained that the present situation along the India-China frontier is normal.
Transgressions Continue Along Disputed Border
Khandu said such incidents are not new and occur because India and China have differing perceptions of the boundary.
He pointed out that China does not recognise the McMahon Line, which contributes to overlapping territorial claims and patrol movements along the frontier.
CM Says Situation Is Normal Now
Despite acknowledging continued transgressions, Khandu said there was no reason for alarm and that the situation along the border was currently normal.
He indicated that Indian security forces remain deployed and continue to monitor sensitive areas along the frontier.
Remarks Follow ITBP Chief’s Statement
Khandu’s comments came after ITBP Director General Shatrujeet Kapur spoke about a face-off with Chinese PLA troops at several locations in Arunachal Pradesh.
Kapur had also praised newly raised Shaurya Commando teams for their role in handling the situation.
Differing Perceptions Remain Core Issue
The India-China boundary remains unresolved, and different perceptions of the LAC have frequently led to patrol encounters between troops from both sides.
Arunachal Pradesh remains one of the most strategically sensitive sections of the frontier.
Border Security Remains Under Watch
Khandu’s remarks suggest that while transgressions continue because of the unresolved boundary, the state government does not currently view the situation as abnormal.
The border remains under close watch as Indian security forces continue their deployment and monitoring.
