Mumbai, October 22, 2026: A fresh legal dispute has emerged in the Tiger Shroff firing case after the lawyer representing one of the three accused claimed that his client is a minor and questioned whether Mumbai Police followed mandatory arrest procedures correctly.
The three accused — Rehan R, Phool Singh and Ritik Kurmi alias Roshan — have been remanded to Mumbai Police custody until October 31 as the Crime Branch continues its investigation into the firing on actor Tiger Shroff’s car.
Lawyer Seeks Verification of Accused’s Age
The defence lawyer has asked authorities to verify the age of one of the accused, claiming that the person may be a juvenile.
If the claim is established through official documents, the accused would have to be dealt with under procedures applicable to juveniles rather than the regular criminal justice process.
Police reports cited earlier in the investigation, however, had described the three arrested men as adults, making age verification an important issue now before investigators and the court.
Arrest Procedure Also Questioned
Apart from the age claim, the lawyer has challenged aspects of the arrest documentation and alleged that mandatory legal safeguards may not have been followed.
The defence has sought scrutiny of records relating to the arrest, transit and production of the accused before the Mumbai court.
Three Accused Sent to Police Custody Until October 31
The Esplanade court in Mumbai remanded Rehan R, Phool Singh and Ritik Kurmi to police custody until October 31.
Mumbai Police had sought extended custody, arguing that further questioning was necessary to recover the firearms allegedly used in the shooting and uncover the wider conspiracy.
Guns Used in Attack Still Missing
One of the key unresolved issues in the case is the location of the firearms allegedly used during the attack.
Police told the court that the weapons have not yet been recovered and that custodial interrogation is required to trace them and identify everyone involved in arranging the attack.
Police Say Two Mobile Phones Were Destroyed
Investigators have also alleged that two mobile phones connected to the accused were destroyed.
Police are trying to determine whether the devices contained communications with alleged handlers or evidence relating to the planning and execution of the attack.
Suspects Were Arrested in Kota
The three suspects were arrested earlier in Kota, Rajasthan, after police traced their movements following the firing in Mumbai.
Investigators say the accused allegedly abandoned the motorcycle used in the attack, travelled from Mumbai to Surat and then boarded a train towards Rajasthan.
Police Say Suspects Planned to Escape to Nepal
According to investigators, the accused were allegedly planning to travel towards Delhi before crossing into Nepal.
CCTV footage, technical surveillance and coordination between police teams in several states helped authorities locate them at Kota railway station.
Wider Network Under Investigation
The probe has expanded beyond the three alleged shooters.
Four more people were arrested on October 20 in connection with an alleged weapons-supply network. Investigators say a pistol and ammunition were transported to Mumbai before the attack through a chain of intermediaries.
Police Probe Alleged Gang Connections
Investigators are also examining possible links between those involved in the shooting and gangster networks.
Police are reviewing encrypted communications, alleged handlers and the source of weapons to determine who ordered the attack and whether the shooters were acting on instructions from a larger criminal organisation.
Age Dispute Could Affect Proceedings
The defence claim regarding the accused’s age could become significant if documentary evidence establishes that the person was below 18 at the time of the alleged offence.
Until age verification is completed, however, the claim remains disputed and should not be treated as established fact.
Investigation Continues
With the accused in police custody until October 31, investigators are expected to focus on recovering the weapons, reconstructing communications and identifying the full network allegedly involved in the shooting.
The court may also have to examine the defence objections concerning age verification and arrest procedure as the case progresses.
