NEW DELHI, September 11: Registration for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) October 2026 session will open today at 5 PM, according to the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). The screening test will be conducted on October 31, 2026.
Applications Open Until September 25
Eligible candidates can submit their online applications from September 11 at 5 PM until September 25, 2026.
The examination will be conducted in computer-based test mode at designated centres across India. NBEMS has advised candidates to carefully check the information bulletin before completing their applications.
FMGE Exam to Have 300 Questions
The October FMGE will consist of a single paper with 300 multiple-choice questions, administered in English through a computer network.
The application fee is:
- Examination fee: ₹5,250
- GST: ₹945
- Total payable: ₹6,195
Candidates will also be able to mark questions for review during the examination.
Who Needs to Take FMGE?
FMGE is a screening examination for eligible Indian citizens and Overseas Citizens of India who obtained their primary medical qualification outside India and want to practise medicine in the country, subject to applicable NMC rules.
NBEMS Warns Against Multiple Applications
NBEMS has warned candidates to submit only one application form.
If multiple applications are filed, the board may consider only the application with the higher-order application ID, while other forms may be cancelled and the fee forfeited.
Result Expected by November 30
The FMGE October 2026 result is scheduled to be declared by November 30, 2026.
The October session provides foreign medical graduates with another examination opportunity this year following concerns raised by candidates after the June session.
