Gurugram: Schools in Gurugram shifted to online classes and offices moved to work-from-home mode on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, as heavy rainfall continued across Delhi-NCR, triggering waterlogging, traffic congestion and disruption on several major roads.
The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Gurugram, issued the directive after torrential rainfall on Monday left several parts of the city flooded and created severe commuting difficulties. Heavy rain continued across parts of the NCR on Tuesday morning.
Schools Shift to Online Classes
Government and private schools and educational institutions across Gurugram were asked to conduct classes remotely on Tuesday.
The district education authorities were instructed to circulate the order among school administrations so that students and staff could remain indoors while civic agencies carried out drainage clearing and road restoration work.
The measure was taken primarily for safety and to reduce the number of vehicles on roads already affected by waterlogging.
The decision followed serious disruption on Monday, when school buses were among vehicles stranded for hours on flooded and congested roads.
Offices Switch to Work From Home
The DDMA also directed corporate offices and government departments to adopt work-from-home arrangements for August 25.
Officials said reducing non-essential traffic would allow municipal and emergency teams to perform:
- Drainage clearing
- De-watering operations
- Road repair
- Restoration work
without additional traffic congestion interfering with operations.
The work-from-home measure is currently applicable for Tuesday and was introduced as a precaution following Monday’s extreme weather conditions.
Heavy Rain Continues Across Delhi-NCR
