San Francisco, October 28, 2026: Defense technology company Anduril Industries and chipmaker Qualcomm have announced BlueChip, a new line of rugged laptops aimed at rebuilding computer manufacturing in the United States.
The first BlueChip laptop will be designed and assembled in the US and powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Series processors.
Built for Government and Defense
BlueChip is initially being developed for government agencies, military users, first responders and public-safety organisations.
The laptops are expected to focus heavily on durability, secure computing and the ability to operate in demanding environments.
Snapdragon X Will Power the Laptop
Qualcomm will provide its Snapdragon X platform, handling CPU, graphics and on-device AI processing.
Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon said the chips intended for the laptops will be manufactured at TSMC facilities in Arizona.
Local AI Is a Major Feature
Anduril founder Palmer Luckey said the ability to run AI models directly on the laptop is particularly important for defense and government users.
Sensitive information can be processed locally rather than being sent to external cloud services.
Manufacturing Planned in Ohio
Circuit-board assembly is planned at Anduril’s Arsenal-1 facility in Ohio.
The company is also developing domestic production for laptop enclosures, battery components and other hardware.
More Than 90% Sourced From US and Allies
Anduril says components sourced from the US and allied countries currently account for more than 90% of the prototype’s component procurement cost.
The longer-term goal is to create a fully domestic American supply chain.
Not Completely US-Made Yet
Despite the “American-made” ambition, some parts are still sourced outside the US.
The companies are taking a phased approach because displays, batteries and several other computer components are still largely produced overseas.
Orders Planned for 2027
Anduril has already developed working BlueChip prototypes.
The company plans to begin taking orders in 2027, although final pricing and detailed hardware specifications have not yet been announced.
Consumer Models Could Follow
The first laptops will target critical government and security users, but Anduril’s broader plan could eventually expand BlueChip into other commercial and consumer computing markets.
Partnership Targets Supply-Chain Security
The project reflects growing US concern over dependence on overseas computer manufacturing.
Anduril and Qualcomm argue that domestic production of critical computing hardware could reduce supply-chain risks during geopolitical conflict or major disruptions.
BlueChip Expands Anduril Beyond Defense Hardware
Anduril is best known for drones, autonomous systems and other defense technology.
BlueChip marks a notable expansion into computing hardware, with the company aiming to apply its national-security approach to laptops and eventually other devices.
