Fresh Graduate Left Jobless Before Joining Oracle
A software developer’s job offer from Oracle has been revoked for the second time, just five days before his scheduled joining date, sparking a debate over hiring uncertainty and the treatment of fresh graduates.
Tejasw Agrawal, a fresh graduate who had previously completed an internship at Oracle, said the company had offered him a software development position in July with August 18 set as his joining date. However, on August 13, he was informed that the offer had been withdrawn.
Offer Was Revoked Once Before
According to Agrawal’s account, Oracle had initially extended him a pre-placement offer (PPO) after his internship, but that offer was revoked in May 2026.
Two months later, in July, the company offered him the same position again and provided a confirmed joining date. Agrawal completed the required documentation and joining formalities and also booked travel arrangements for relocation.
Just five days before joining, however, he said Oracle withdrew the offer again.
“Re-offered. Revoked Again”
Agrawal shared his experience publicly on LinkedIn, writing “Re-offered. Revoked again” as he appealed for help finding another opportunity.
His post attracted thousands of reactions online, with professionals and other users discussing the uncertainty faced by graduates when companies withdraw confirmed offers shortly before joining.
Agrawal is now seeking opportunities in software development, software engineering and AI engineering.
Relocation Plans Added to the Difficulty
The situation became particularly difficult because Agrawal had already made preparations based on the confirmed joining date.
According to his account, he had completed the company’s joining formalities and booked flight tickets to relocate. He also said that he had other opportunities during the period but chose not to pursue them after believing the Oracle position was confirmed.
For fresh graduates, such last-minute changes can be especially damaging because campus recruitment processes often limit the ability to pursue multiple offers simultaneously.
Oracle Hiring Practices Under Scrutiny
The episode has reignited discussion around the reliability of campus hiring and pre-placement offers in India’s technology sector.
Agrawal’s case has also emerged against the backdrop of wider workforce restructuring at Oracle. Reports have previously linked the company to significant job cuts and changes in hiring priorities as it increases investment in artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure.
However, there is no confirmed public statement from Oracle specifically explaining why Agrawal’s individual offer was withdrawn.
Why Offer Revocations Matter for Freshers
A confirmed employment offer is often treated by graduating students as the final step between college and their first full-time job.
When an offer is withdrawn close to the joining date, candidates can be left without enough time to participate in other campus recruitment opportunities or secure alternative employment.
The incident therefore highlights a broader concern for India’s young technology workforce: how candidates can protect themselves against sudden changes in hiring plans after accepting an offer.
A Growing Debate Around Job Security
Agrawal’s experience has quickly attracted attention because it involves a major global technology company and a graduate who had already completed an internship with the organisation.
While companies may adjust hiring plans because of changing business requirements, the timing of this particular withdrawal has raised questions about communication, transparency and the responsibilities of employers towards candidates who have already made professional and financial commitments.
For now, Agrawal remains without the job he expected to begin on August 18 and is actively seeking new opportunities.
