Ranchi, October 28, 2026: Delhi captain Ayush Badoni has produced back-to-back double centuries in the Ranji Trophy, strengthening his case for higher honours after being left out of India A’s recent assignments.
Badoni followed his career-best 217 against Gujarat with an unbeaten 210 against Jharkhand in Ranchi.
Second Straight Double Hundred
Against Jharkhand, Badoni reached 200 in 216 balls before finishing unbeaten on 210.
His innings helped Delhi declare at 515 for seven.
217 Came Against Gujarat
In Delhi’s previous Ranji Trophy match, Badoni scored 217 off 233 balls against Gujarat at Palam.
Delhi eventually declared on 648 for six in that innings.
Joins Rare First-Class List
Badoni became the 21st Indian batter to score double centuries in consecutive first-class innings.
Former Delhi stars Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli are among the Indians to have previously achieved the feat.
Strong Response to India A Omission
The 26-year-old was a regular India A player until the Sri Lanka tour in August but was left out of the subsequent Australia series and ongoing New Zealand tour.
His coach Devender Sharma said the omission had disappointed Badoni and motivated him to produce bigger scores in domestic cricket.
Third Double Century as Delhi Captain
The unbeaten 210 was also Badoni’s third double hundred in 10 matches as Delhi captain.
He had previously scored 205 not out against Jharkhand in November 2024.
All-Round Contribution Continues
Badoni has also contributed with his off-spin.
After helping Delhi reach 515 for seven against Jharkhand, he dismissed wicketkeeper Shresht Sagar. Earlier this season, he had taken a five-wicket haul against Bengal.
Selection Case Gets Stronger
Two consecutive double centuries have put Badoni firmly back in the selection conversation.
With India A and senior-team opportunities ahead, his current Ranji Trophy run could prove important in determining his next step.
