Jerusalem, July 6: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has described India as one of Israel’s strongest international friends, highlighting the growing strategic partnership between the two countries during an interview ahead of his official visit to Washington, D.C. Netanyahu praised the steady expansion of bilateral ties and underscored the importance of cooperation with India across defence, technology, trade, innovation, and regional security.
His remarks reflect the deepening relationship between New Delhi and Jerusalem, which has witnessed significant growth in recent years through high-level political engagement and expanding economic collaboration.
Praise for India–Israel Partnership
During the interview, Netanyahu acknowledged India’s role as a trusted partner and emphasized that the relationship between the two democracies continues to grow stronger.
He noted that cooperation has expanded well beyond traditional sectors to include cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, agriculture, water management, renewable energy, healthcare, and advanced technologies.
Strategic Cooperation Continues to Expand
India and Israel maintain close cooperation in several strategic areas, including defence manufacturing, homeland security, counter-terrorism, space research, and innovation.
Both countries have also strengthened collaboration through joint research initiatives, startup partnerships, and technology transfers aimed at boosting economic growth and addressing shared challenges.
Strong Economic and Trade Relations
Trade and investment remain key pillars of the bilateral relationship. Indian and Israeli companies have increasingly partnered in sectors such as digital technology, clean energy, infrastructure, precision agriculture, and medical technology.
Officials from both nations continue to explore opportunities to further diversify bilateral trade and encourage greater private-sector collaboration.
Washington Visit in Focus
Netanyahu’s remarks came ahead of his scheduled visit to Washington, where he is expected to hold discussions with senior United States officials on regional security, defence cooperation, and developments in the Middle East.
While the Washington visit will focus primarily on Israel–US relations, the Israeli Prime Minister’s comments also highlighted the importance Israel attaches to its partnership with India.
Growing Comprehensive Partnership
India and Israel established full diplomatic relations in 1992, and bilateral ties have steadily evolved into a comprehensive strategic partnership. Frequent high-level exchanges, growing business cooperation, and expanding collaboration in science and technology have further strengthened relations between the two countries.
Analysts believe Netanyahu’s remarks reaffirm the importance of India in Israel’s foreign policy and reflect the growing convergence of interests between the two nations.
