Tehran, November 1, 2026: Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has ordered the country’s armed forces to respond immediately to any new threat or attack from the United States or Israel, warning that Iran’s retaliation would have “no geographic limits.” The statement has heightened concerns over a possible renewed military confrontation in West Asia.
Iran Orders Immediate Response to Any Attack
Khamenei said Iran’s military should be prepared to respond to threats of any scale and that Tehran would decide when and under what conditions any renewed hostilities would end.
His remarks were issued after a meeting with senior military commanders, according to Iranian state media.
Target List to Include US and Israeli Assets
The Iranian leader also directed commanders to update the country’s military target list.
The instruction reportedly includes bringing both physical and non-physical US and Israeli assets within the reach of Iranian forces as part of Tehran’s effort to strengthen deterrence.
Warning Comes Amid Fears of Renewed War
The statement comes amid growing concerns that fighting between Iran and the US-Israel alliance could resume.
Regional governments are trying to prevent another round of escalation, with diplomatic efforts continuing through mediators including Qatar.
Iran Says Military Readiness Has Increased
Senior Iranian commanders reportedly briefed Khamenei on military preparedness around the Strait of Hormuz, Gulf of Oman and Iran’s border regions.
They also reported increased production of ammunition and reconnaissance, support and combat systems.
Saudi Arabia and Egypt Call for Restraint
Regional powers have urged all sides to avoid another major conflict.
At a security forum in Bahrain, Saudi and Egyptian officials warned that renewed fighting could have severe consequences for the wider Middle East and called for continued diplomatic efforts.
Diplomacy With Washington Still Possible
Despite the military warning, Iranian officials have indicated that diplomatic discussions remain possible.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said recent US efforts to restart talks were a positive step but stressed that Tehran has conditions related to sanctions, regional military deployments and shipping arrangements through the Strait of Hormuz.
Strait of Hormuz Remains a Key Flashpoint
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the most strategically important waterways in the world because of the large volume of global oil and gas shipments that pass through it.
Any military escalation involving Iran, the United States or Israel could therefore have consequences well beyond the region, particularly for global energy markets and shipping.
