New Delhi, July 5: External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar has commenced a multi-nation diplomatic visit to several countries in the Gulf and Africa, reaffirming India’s commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships, expanding economic engagement, and enhancing cooperation across key sectors. The visit is part of India’s broader diplomatic outreach aimed at reinforcing ties with partner nations in regions that are vital to the country’s foreign policy and economic interests.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated that the visit will include high-level meetings with political leaders, foreign ministers, and business representatives to review bilateral relations and identify new avenues for collaboration.
Strengthening Strategic Partnerships
During the tour, Dr. Jaishankar is expected to hold discussions on defence cooperation, maritime security, counter-terrorism, regional stability, and multilateral engagement.
The meetings will also focus on strengthening political dialogue and expanding cooperation on global issues of mutual interest.
Boosting Trade and Investment
Economic cooperation will remain a major focus of the visit. India is expected to discuss measures to increase bilateral trade, attract greater investment, and promote collaboration in sectors such as infrastructure, renewable energy, digital technology, healthcare, logistics, agriculture, and advanced manufacturing.
Officials believe stronger economic partnerships will contribute to sustainable growth and create new opportunities for businesses in both India and partner countries.
Enhancing Gulf Relations
The Gulf region continues to be one of India’s most significant strategic partners, particularly in energy security, trade, and investment. It is also home to a large Indian diaspora that contributes significantly to both the regional economies and India’s remittance inflows.
The visit aims to further strengthen cooperation in energy, fintech, food security, logistics, and connectivity.
Expanding India’s Engagement with Africa
India’s partnership with African nations has grown steadily in recent years through development assistance, capacity building, education, healthcare, digital public infrastructure, and technology cooperation.
Dr. Jaishankar’s engagements in Africa are expected to reinforce India’s commitment to supporting inclusive development and strengthening South-South cooperation.
Reinforcing India’s Global Diplomacy
The multi-country visit highlights India’s proactive diplomatic engagement with emerging regions that are increasingly important for global trade, security, and economic growth.
Officials expect the discussions to deepen bilateral cooperation, promote investment, and further strengthen India’s role as a reliable and trusted partner across the Gulf and African regions.
