Sanjay Dutt Issues Fresh Clarification Over ‘No Peace in India’ Remark, Says It Was Not His Personal View

Mumbai, October 6, 2026: Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt has issued a fresh clarification after facing backlash over his recent remark that he could no longer “feel peace” in India. Dutt said the controversial statement was part of a scripted segment on Shekhar Suman’s show and did not represent his personal views.

Dutt Releases Second Clarification

In a new video statement, Dutt reiterated that the comments were made as part of a scripted conversation on Shekhar Tonite.

He said the words spoken during the segment should not be interpreted as his own personal opinion about India.

‘Comments Were Part of a Scripted Segment’

Dutt explained that the discussion was designed to be light-hearted and humorous.

His earlier clarification had also said that the segment drew inspiration from the humour and “Gandhigiri” associated with his Munna Bhai films, with the intended message centred on love, unity and goodwill.

What Sparked the Controversy?

During the Gandhi Jayanti special episode of Shekhar Suman’s show, Dutt spoke about his desire for greater peace in the country and remarked that he did not feel the same sense of peace anymore.

Clips of the statement spread quickly across social media and triggered criticism from several users.

Actor Says Remarks Were Taken Out of Context

Dutt maintained that the viral clips did not convey the complete context in which his comments were made.

He stressed that he had no intention of insulting India or hurting the sentiments of any individual, community or institution.

Shekhar Suman Comes to Dutt’s Defence

Talk-show host Shekhar Suman also defended Dutt amid the controversy.

Suman said Dutt’s remarks had been misunderstood and argued that the actor has deep respect and affection for India.

Social Media Backlash Continues

Despite the clarifications, the original remark continued to generate discussion online, with users debating both Dutt’s words and the responsibility public figures carry when commenting on sensitive national issues.

The controversy also brought renewed attention to the way short video clips can circulate without the broader context of a full conversation.

Fresh Statement Aims to Put Controversy to Rest

Dutt’s latest clarification appears aimed at ending the debate by making a clearer distinction between scripted content and his personal beliefs.

The actor maintained that the controversial lines should not be considered a reflection of his own views about the country.
