JAIPUR, September 5: The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) is scheduled to conduct a NEET-PG 2026 re-examination for 2,445 candidates in Jaipur at 3 PM today, after technical and power-related disruptions prevented them from completing the original test.
The affected candidates had appeared for NEET-PG on August 30 at two iON Digital Zone centres in the Sitapura area of Jaipur.
Power Failure Disrupted August 30 Exam
According to NBEMS, the examination could not be completed for candidates at Test Centre Nos. 41682 and 41683 because of an internal power-supply failure at the centres.
The board attributed the disruption to the examination conducting agency and subsequently announced a fresh test to ensure affected candidates receive an equitable opportunity.
2,445 Candidates Eligible for Re-Test
The special examination is limited to the 2,445 candidates whose August 30 test was disrupted.
NBEMS had announced that the re-examination would begin at 3 PM on September 5 in Jaipur, with revised examination-centre details and admit cards communicated separately to eligible candidates.
Committee Formed to Probe Disruption
A three-member committee was constituted to investigate the power failure and circumstances that disrupted the examination.
The panel includes representation from the Rajasthan government, Union Health Ministry and Central Electricity Authority.
The investigation is expected to examine the power-supply arrangements and determine responsibility for the disruption.
NBEMS Rejects Paper-Leak Claims
Following the Jaipur incident, authorities also rejected social-media allegations suggesting that the NEET-PG question paper had been leaked.
NBEMS said the problem was related to internal power and technical disruption, not a paper leak or cyberattack.
More Than 2.65 Lakh Appeared Nationwide
NEET-PG 2026 was conducted nationwide on August 30 across 1,111 examination centres in 339 cities.
Of the 2,73,096 registered candidates, around 2,65,980 appeared, while approximately 2,63,535 successfully completed the examination.
The Jaipur candidates were the major group unable to finish the test because of the centre-level disruption.
Re-Exam Aims to Ensure Fair Opportunity
NBEMS said the special examination is being conducted to protect the fairness and integrity of the postgraduate medical entrance process.
The Board also apologised to affected candidates for the inconvenience caused during the original examination.
Candidates appearing today have been advised to follow instructions mentioned on their revised admit cards and reach the examination venue within the prescribed reporting time.
