MUMBAI, September 14: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has formally registered an FIR in the death of celebrity manager Disha Salian, beginning a fresh investigation after the Bombay High Court directed the central agency to take over the case from Mumbai Police. The development comes more than six years after Salian died following a fall from a high-rise building in Mumbai in June 2020.
Bombay High Court Ordered CBI Investigation
The Bombay High Court had directed the CBI earlier this month to register an FIR and conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Salian’s death.
The court also ordered Mumbai Police to transfer the relevant records and case material to the central agency. It had questioned why the matter remained registered only as an Accidental Death Report (ADR) despite allegations raised by Salian’s family.
CBI Records Disha Salian’s Father’s Statement
Before formally registering the FIR, CBI officials recorded the statement of Disha’s father, Satish Salian, at the agency’s Mumbai office in the Bandra-Kurla Complex.
Satish Salian has maintained that the circumstances surrounding his daughter’s death require a deeper investigation and has said he provided investigators with information about individuals and events he wants examined.
Mumbai Police Asked to Hand Over Case Records
The CBI had already written to Mumbai’s Malwani Police seeking documents and evidence collected during the earlier investigation.
These records are expected to include statements, forensic material, medical documents and other information gathered by local police since 2020. The transfer will allow the CBI to independently reassess the evidence and determine whether further questioning or forensic examination is required.
FIR Details Not Fully Disclosed
While the registration of the FIR has been officially confirmed, a CBI official quoted by Hindustan Times declined to disclose the names of accused persons or the legal sections invoked in the case.
This is significant because several claims about individuals allegedly named in the case have circulated publicly. Until the agency releases the FIR details or makes an official statement, such claims should be treated cautiously.
Disha Salian Died Days Before Sushant Singh Rajput
Disha Salian, who had worked as a celebrity and talent manager, died after falling from a residential building in Mumbai in June 2020.
Her death attracted intense public attention because actor Sushant Singh Rajput, whom she had previously managed, was found dead at his Bandra residence just days later. Authorities have investigated the two cases separately, despite years of speculation attempting to link them.
Fresh Probe Could Re-Examine Earlier Evidence
With the FIR now registered, the CBI can formally summon witnesses, examine records and pursue additional investigative steps depending on the evidence.
The agency has not yet announced any conclusion about the cause of Salian’s death or established criminal responsibility. The investigation is at an early stage, and further details are expected as the CBI reviews the material transferred by Mumbai Police.
