Good news for Mumbaikars! The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) is soon going to start the service of Metro-3 from Aarey to Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). This new metro line will not only save the time of the passengers but will also make their journey comfortable and safe. This project is going to write a new chapter in the transport history of Mumbai.
According to MMRC CEO Ashwini Bhide, this service can be started in the first week of October. He said that all the preparations are in the final stage, and the security check has also been completed. To travel in Metro-3, you will have to spend a minimum of Rs 10 and a maximum of Rs 50. The cost will depend on the distance of your trip. For example, the journey from Aarey to Sakinaka can be done for Rs 20 to Mahakali Caves Road for Rs 30 and the entire route, i.e., BKC, for Rs 50. With the commissioning of Metro-3, the journey from Aarey to BKC will be completed in just 22 minutes. The distance that is now covered in an hour is now in just 22 minutes! This is the biggest and most miraculous benefit of the Mumbai Metro 3 launch. The first phase of Metro-3 will cover 12.44 km. There will be a total of 9 stations on this route, including Aarey Mithi River Sakinaka Jogeshwari SEEPZ Mahakali Caves Road Kalina Vidyanagari, and BKC. The design of each station is equipped with modern facilities, including escalator lifts and special facilities for the differently abled.
Talking about the timings of the metro, it will run from 6:30 am to 10:30 pm. In the beginning, there will be a train every 6.5 minutes. This time will be reduced to 3 minutes when the entire route is turned on. This means that passengers will not have to wait much during peak hours. There will be a total of 96 trips daily, which can be increased to 280 later. Each train will have 8 coaches with a capacity of about 2400 passengers.
The entire focus of rain and safety in Mumbai is often flooded during the rainy season. But with the launch of Mumbai Metro 3, this concern will be completely removed. The design of the metro has been made keeping in mind the rainfall data of the last 100 years. Adequate arrangements have been made to drain out water. Water pumps have been installed at every station and can pump out 1000 liters of water in an hour. Apart from this, there is also a provision to drain out the water in case of accumulation in the tunnel. Metro-3 is also state-of-the-art in terms of safety. CCTV cameras have been installed in all stations. There is a help button for passengers in case of emergency. Fire alarms and sprinkler systems have also been installed. All care has been taken to ensure that the passengers do not face any problems in reaching their destination after exiting the metro station. Bus stands and auto-taxi stands will be set up near each station. BEST buses will also be available. The stations will also have facilities like Wi-Fi ticket vending machines and mobile charging points. Braille signage and wheelchairs are provided for disabled passengers.
