Mumbai, October 14, 2026: Isha Ambani’s Radha-Krishna-inspired Navratri ensemble has attracted attention for its intricate detailing and the traditional Indian crafts behind its creation. Designed by Torani in collaboration with Swadesh, the elaborate outfit reportedly took 10 artisans more than 90 days and over 2,000 hours of craftsmanship to complete.
Featuring hand-painted devotional scenes, intricate embroidery and traditional textile-art techniques, the ensemble brings together India’s artistic heritage and contemporary festive fashion.
Outfit Worn at Swadesh’s First Anniversary Celebration
Isha Ambani wore the ensemble at the Ambani family’s pre-Navratri celebration, titled Devi Shakti, organised to mark the first anniversary of Swadesh.
The platform focuses on promoting India’s traditional crafts, textiles and artisan communities. The celebration brought together prominent personalities and showcased Indian cultural heritage through clothing, design and craftsmanship.
Radha-Krishna Raas Inspires the Design
The ensemble draws inspiration from Radha and Krishna performing Raas, with devotional imagery painted across the garment.
The artwork reflects the spiritual significance of the divine figures while capturing the festive atmosphere associated with Navratri. Through its detailed visual storytelling, the outfit combines religious inspiration with the colour and celebratory spirit of the festival.
Kalamkari and Odisha’s Pattachitra Come Together
One of the outfit’s defining features is its use of Kalamkari and Odisha’s Pattachitra art traditions.
The narrative scenes were hand-painted on pure silk, bringing two distinct Indian artistic styles together in a single garment. Both traditions are known for their detailed imagery and storytelling, making them particularly suited to a design centred on devotional themes.
Ten Artisans Contribute More Than 2,000 Hours
According to details shared about the creation process, 10 artisans worked for more than 90 days to complete the ensemble.
The process involved carefully painting the narrative scenes and incorporating intricate embroidery and decorative elements. The reported investment of over 2,000 hours highlights the time and specialised skills required to bring the design to life.
Zardozi, Pearls and Mirrors Add Intricate Detailing
Beyond its hand-painted artwork, the ensemble features several traditional embellishment techniques, including zardozi embroidery, French knots, pearl work, mirror detailing and tassels.
These elements add texture and dimension to the garment, complementing the painted scenes and enhancing its festive appearance.
Ivory Base Contrasts With Vibrant Colours
The outfit features an ivory base decorated with Radha-Krishna imagery in shades of electric blue, vermilion and gold.
The contrasting colours help draw attention to the devotional artwork, while the embroidery adds depth without overshadowing the hand-painted details.
Custom Parandi Completes the Look
Isha completed the ensemble with a custom parandi by Tonoto, featuring deep blue, red, green and yellow tones.
The hair accessory echoed the colours of the outfit and added another traditional element to the overall styling.
Jewellery From Nita Ambani’s Personal Collection
The look was accessorised with jewellery from Nita Ambani’s personal collection. The traditional statement pieces complemented the detailed ensemble and reinforced its festive aesthetic.
The styling brought together heritage-inspired clothing, jewellery and accessories while keeping the craftsmanship of the lehenga at the centre of attention.
Designer Emphasises the Spirit of Navratri
Torani described the creative intention behind the ensemble as an expression of Navratri’s spirit, incorporating the rhythm of Garba, collective celebration and devotion associated with the festival.
The design uses traditional art forms to connect festive dressing with India’s cultural and spiritual heritage.
Swadesh Celebration Highlights Indian Craftsmanship
The Devi Shakti celebration also featured Bollywood celebrities and other prominent guests dressed in traditional Indian attire.
The event highlighted the role of indigenous crafts, textiles and artisan skills in contemporary celebrations, placing Indian craftsmanship alongside high-profile fashion and cultural expression.
Traditional Craftsmanship Takes Centre Stage
While celebrity fashion often draws attention to designer labels and luxury styling, Isha Ambani’s ensemble stands out for the labour-intensive techniques behind its creation.
With 10 artisans, more than 90 days of work and over 2,000 hours reportedly invested in the garment, the outfit illustrates how traditional Indian art forms can be incorporated into contemporary couture while retaining their cultural significance.
