New Delhi, October 25, 2026: Emirates has expanded its Premium Economy offering across all of its Delhi and Kolkata services from Sunday, while also launching its flagship Airbus A380 on the Delhi–Dubai route for the first time. The move significantly increases the airline’s premium capacity in India as demand rises for higher-comfort travel between India, Dubai and onward destinations in Europe and North America.
A380 Begins Delhi Service Today
From October 25, Emirates is deploying its Airbus A380 on flight EK512/513 between Dubai and Delhi.
The aircraft operates in a four-class configuration featuring First Class, Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy.
Delhi Becomes Third Indian A380 Destination
Delhi now joins Mumbai and Bengaluru as Emirates’ third destination in India served by the airline’s double-decker A380.
The airline says the deployment reflects strong passenger demand and the importance of Delhi within its India network.
Premium Economy Now Available on All Delhi Flights
Emirates operates four daily flights between Delhi and Dubai.
From today, all four services offer Premium Economy. The A380-operated EK513 includes the cabin, while the other three daily services — EK511, EK515 and EK517 — are being operated by retrofitted Boeing 777 aircraft with the same four-class layout.
Kolkata Gets Premium Economy Across All 12 Weekly Flights
The airline has also expanded Premium Economy across its entire Kolkata schedule.
All 12 weekly flights between Kolkata and Dubai will now offer the cabin, compared with only part of the schedule previously.
Emirates A350 Takes Over Daily Kolkata Flight
From October 25, Emirates’ daily EK570/571 Kolkata–Dubai service is being operated by the airline’s newer Airbus A350.
The aircraft brings updated cabin products, including Premium Economy, to the route.
Five Weekly Kolkata Flights Use Retrofitted Boeing 777
The remaining five weekly EK572/573 services continue with a retrofitted Boeing 777.
These aircraft also feature the four-class configuration, making Premium Economy available across the full Kolkata schedule.
Premium Economy Expands to Six Indian Cities
By the end of October, Emirates will offer Premium Economy to passengers travelling from six Indian gateways:
Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Kochi.
This means the cabin will be available on close to half of Emirates’ scheduled weekly departures from India.
Airline Operates 168 Weekly Departures From India
Emirates currently operates from nine Indian cities and has a broad network connecting Indian passengers through Dubai.
Its services cover Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Thiruvananthapuram.
India Market Driving Premium Demand
Emirates executives say the Indian market is showing stronger demand for premium travel.
While India has traditionally been seen as price-sensitive, the airline believes an increasing number of travellers are willing to pay more for additional space, comfort and improved onboard service.
Premium Economy Targets Middle Segment
Premium Economy sits between standard Economy and Business Class.
It is aimed at passengers who want more comfort and improved service but do not want to pay full Business Class fares.
Emirates sees this segment as particularly attractive for long-haul passengers travelling beyond Dubai.
Connecting Traffic Important for Strategy
Many passengers travelling from India use Dubai as a connection point for Europe, North America and other international markets.
Because Premium Economy is already widely offered on those longer routes, making the cabin available from India allows customers to maintain a more consistent cabin experience throughout their journey.
Premium Economy Includes Larger Seats
Emirates’ Premium Economy cabin features cream leather seats with greater legroom, deeper recline and additional space compared with regular Economy.
The airline also provides upgraded dining served on chinaware and enhanced amenities.
A380 Adds Capacity on Busy Delhi Route
The A380 is Emirates’ largest passenger aircraft.
Deploying it on Delhi–Dubai gives the airline more seats on a route where adding additional flight frequencies can be difficult because of bilateral aviation capacity restrictions.
This allows Emirates to increase premium and overall capacity without necessarily adding more daily flights.
Capacity Limits Shape India Strategy
India and Dubai have limits on the number of seats airlines can operate under bilateral air-service agreements.
That makes larger aircraft and premium cabin upgrades particularly important for airlines looking to grow revenue without expanding flight frequencies.
A380 Offers Four Cabin Classes
Passengers on the new Delhi A380 service can choose between First Class, Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy.
The aircraft’s introduction gives Emirates a flagship product on one of India’s most important international routes.
Mumbai and Bengaluru Already Serve A380
Emirates already operates the A380 to Mumbai and Bengaluru.
The addition of Delhi creates an A380 network covering three of India’s largest international aviation markets.
More India Service Enhancements Planned
Emirates says additional enhancements are planned as part of its broader India strategy.
The airline has already opened retail travel stores in Delhi and Mumbai and plans additional customer-service facilities in Hyderabad and Bengaluru, along with a dedicated call centre in Mumbai.
Premiumisation Becomes Key Growth Strategy
The expansion reflects a broader shift in airline strategy toward premiumisation.
Rather than competing only on ticket prices, airlines are increasingly targeting passengers willing to pay more for comfort, flexibility and improved service.
For Emirates, India’s growing middle and affluent traveller segments provide a significant opportunity.
Delhi Launch Marks Major India Milestone
The October 25 launch is therefore more than a simple aircraft change.
With the A380 entering Delhi and Premium Economy becoming available across every Delhi and Kolkata flight, Emirates is substantially expanding its premium product footprint in India.
The airline will now watch booking patterns closely to determine how strongly Indian travellers respond to the additional cabin choice.
