Jio Platforms Makes Stock-Market Debut After Strong IPO Demand

Mumbai, October 28, 2026: Jio Platforms made a blockbuster stock-market debut on Wednesday, with its shares listing at ₹1,358 on both the NSE and BSE, a premium of about 21.36% over the IPO issue price of ₹1,119.

Jio Lists at 21% Premium

The strong opening pushed Jio Platforms’ market valuation to roughly ₹12.5 lakh crore, making it one of India’s most valuable listed companies.

IPO Subscribed 22.19 Times

Jio’s ₹30,200-crore IPO attracted massive investor demand and was subscribed 22.19 times.

Qualified institutional buyers led the response, while retail and existing Reliance shareholders also showed strong participation.

Nearly 1.39 Crore Applications

The IPO received around 1.39 crore applications, setting a record for an Indian public issue.

Combined demand from the public issue and anchor investors exceeded ₹7.4 lakh crore.

First Reliance Listing in Two Decades

The Jio debut is Reliance Industries’ first major stock-market listing in around two decades.

It marks another step in Mukesh Ambani’s strategy of separating and unlocking value from Reliance’s major digital and consumer businesses.

Jio Serves More Than 530 Million Customers

Jio Platforms operates India’s largest telecom network and serves more than 530 million customers.

Its businesses also span broadband, cloud services, enterprise technology, artificial intelligence and digital platforms.

Meta and Google Remain Major Investors

Global technology companies remain significant shareholders in Jio.

Meta holds about 9.9%, while Google’s parent Alphabet owns around 7.7%.

Institutional Demand Was Exceptionally Strong

Institutional investors subscribed more than 70 times the shares allocated to them during the IPO.

Major global investors including BlackRock, Fidelity and the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority participated in the offering.

Strong Debut Despite Weak Broader Market

Jio’s listing came on a day when Indian benchmark indices were under pressure from rising crude-oil prices and weakness in IT stocks.

Despite the broader decline, Jio opened sharply above its IPO price.

Investors Now Focus on Growth

Analysts expect Jio’s future performance to depend on telecom tariff increases, broadband expansion, AI investments and improvements in free cash flow.

Competition, heavy capital spending and regulatory changes remain key risks.

Landmark Listing for Indian Markets

Jio’s debut has become one of the most closely watched listings in Indian market history.

With a 21% listing premium and record IPO demand, the company enters public markets with strong investor confidence and a valuation placing it among India’s corporate giants.
