NEW DELHI, September 11: Apple has sharply increased prices of several existing iPhone models in India following the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro series and its first foldable iPhone Duo, with some variants becoming as much as 41% more expensive.
iPhone 17 Now Costs ₹99,900
The price of the standard iPhone 17 has risen to ₹99,900, an increase of about ₹17,000 from its earlier price.
Apple has also revised prices for models including the iPhone 16, iPhone 17e and iPhone Air, with increases varying significantly depending on storage configuration.
iPhone Air Sees Biggest Jump
One of the steepest increases is on the 1TB iPhone Air, which is now priced at ₹2,24,900, representing an increase of roughly ₹65,000.
Reuters reported that India has seen some of the sharpest iPhone price increases globally in Apple’s latest pricing revision.
Chip Costs Drive Price Increase
Rising costs of memory and storage chips, partly driven by strong global demand from AI data centres, are among the key factors behind the price hikes.
India’s final retail prices are also affected by factors such as GST and import-related costs, despite the country becoming an increasingly important iPhone manufacturing base for Apple.
iPhone Duo Enters Ultra-Premium Segment
Apple also unveiled its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, priced from $1,999 globally. The device features a 7.6-inch foldable display, A20 Pro chip and multitasking features designed for the larger screen.
The Duo’s India price is around ₹3 lakh, placing it firmly in the ultra-premium smartphone segment and sparking widespread discussion over Apple’s pricing strategy in the country.
