DUBAI, September 5: Arch-rivals India Women and Pakistan Women will face each other tonight in a blockbuster Group A clash of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2026 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

The highly anticipated encounter is scheduled to begin at 8:00 PM IST, with both teams entering the match after strong starts to their respective campaigns.

India Already Through to Semifinals

India have already secured their place in the semifinals after winning their opening two matches.

Harmanpreet Kaur’s side began the tournament with a commanding 94-run victory over Thailand before crushing Hong Kong, China by 137 runs on September 3.

The Hong Kong victory confirmed India’s progression to the knockout stage, meaning tonight’s Pakistan clash will primarily determine their momentum and position at the top of Group A.

Pakistan Enter After 35-Run Win

Pakistan Women also enter tonight’s match with confidence after opening their Asia Cup campaign with a 35-run victory over Thailand.

Pakistan posted 119 for nine before restricting Thailand to 84 for eight, with Muneeba Ali scoring 54 and Sadia Iqbal taking three wickets.

Fatima Sana’s side will look to strengthen its semifinal qualification chances with a positive result against India before facing Hong Kong, China in its final group match on September 7.

Mandhana in Form Ahead of Big Clash

India vice-captain Smriti Mandhana enters the match in excellent form after smashing a record-breaking century against Hong Kong.

Mandhana struck a 57-ball hundred, becoming the first Indian woman to register multiple T20I centuries and giving India a major boost ahead of the Pakistan encounter.

India’s squad also includes captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Shafali Verma, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh, Renuka Thakur, Radha Yadav and Kranti Gaud.

Fatima Sana Leads Pakistan

Pakistan are captained by Fatima Sana, with Muneeba Ali, Nashra Sundhu, Sadia Iqbal, Tuba Hassan and Sadaf Shamas among the key players in their squad.

Pakistan’s spin attack impressed strongly against Thailand, but the team will face a much tougher challenge against India’s powerful batting lineup.

First Meeting Since T20 World Cup 2026

Tonight’s contest will be the first meeting between India and Pakistan Women since the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, adding further significance to one of international cricket’s biggest rivalries.

Both sides are placed in Group A alongside Thailand and Hong Kong, China. The top two teams from each group qualify for the semifinals, scheduled for September 10 and 11, with the final on September 13.

With India already through and Pakistan aiming to move closer to qualification, tonight’s 8 PM showdown promises to be one of the most closely watched matches of the Women’s Asia Cup.
