Mumbai University Postpones July 6 Exams

Mumbai, July 6: Mumbai University has postponed all examinations scheduled for July 6 in view of the severe monsoon conditions affecting Mumbai and several adjoining districts. The decision was taken following heavy rainfall, waterlogging, and weather warnings issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), with the university prioritising the safety of students, faculty members, and examination staff.

The university has informed students that revised examination dates will be announced separately through its official website and examination portal.

Decision Taken in View of Heavy Rainfall

Continuous heavy rainfall over the past several hours has disrupted road and rail transport across parts of Mumbai and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), making travel difficult for students appearing in examinations.

Considering the prevailing weather conditions, university authorities decided to defer the examinations to ensure that candidates are not inconvenienced or exposed to safety risks.

Revised Schedule to Be Announced

Mumbai University stated that fresh dates for the postponed examinations will be notified in due course. Students have been advised to regularly check the university’s official website and official communication channels for updates regarding the revised timetable.

Officials clarified that all postponed examinations will be conducted at a later date without affecting the overall academic process.

Students Advised to Stay Updated

The university has urged students not to rely on unofficial information circulating on social media and to follow only verified announcements issued by the university.

Candidates have also been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during the period of heavy rainfall and to prioritise their safety.

Monsoon Disruptions Across Mumbai

Heavy monsoon showers have caused widespread waterlogging in several parts of Mumbai, affecting road traffic, suburban railway services, and daily commuting.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation, while emergency services remain on alert to respond to weather-related incidents.

Safety Remains the Priority

University officials reiterated that student safety remains the foremost priority during adverse weather conditions. They assured students that adequate notice will be provided before the rescheduled examinations are conducted.

The administration also appealed for patience and cooperation as the city continues to deal with the impact of the active southwest monsoon.
