The chairman of Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation has sent a notice of Rs 50 crore to the retired army officer. Actually, the matter is from Lahore, Pakistan. Insulting Shaheed Bhagat Singh, who sacrificed his life for the freedom of the country, has proved costly for the Pakistani officer. Let us tell you that the former army officer had called Shaheed Bhagat Singh a criminal. Then what, the chairman of an NGO in Lahore not only asked the retired Pakistani army officer to apologize unconditionally for this insolence but also sent him a legal notice and demanded Rs 50 crore as compensation.

According to the information received, the notice states that “My client Imtiaz Rashid Qureshi is a staunch patriot. He is honest towards his country and Islam and is living his life according to his ability. He has not taken a single penny from any person or group in Pakistan or abroad.” The notice further states that “the aim of his client is to fight for the betterment of the common man and to bring Pakistan and India closer so that the common people can benefit.” Not only this, the notice also refers to the incident when Pakistan’s father of the nation Mohammad Ali Jinnah praised Bhagat Singh in the Central Assembly Delhi. Well, Qureshi said that “Majid used extremely vulgar and insulting language for Shaheed Bhagat Singh (Bhagat Singh insult controversy) in his report submitted to the Lahore High Court in November.”

According to media reports, this notice has been sent to Tariq Majeed, Chief Public Relations Officer of Lahore Metropolitan Corporation and retired officer from Pakistan Armed Forces, through advocate Khalid Jama Khan. Let us tell you that in his report, Majeed had claimed that Singh was not a revolutionary but a criminal. He was a terrorist, he had killed a British police officer. He was hanged for this crime. Majeed had also accused Qureshi of taking foreign funds and also questioned his faith. Not only this, Majeed also accused Imtiaz Rashid Qureshi, President of Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation Pakistan, of taking foreign grants. Let us tell you that Bhagat Singh was born in Banga village of Lyallpur district of Punjab province of Pakistan. He studied at DAV and National College, Lahore. He was hanged on March 23, 1931 at Shadman Chowk in Lahore.
