Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated the 6.5 -km-long Z-Morh tunnel in Sonamarg area of Jammu and Kashmir. Due to this tunnel, it will now be possible for tourists to reach this place throughout the year. The Z-Morh tunnel has been constructed at a cost of Rs 2, 716.90 crore. Speaking on the occasion, PM Modi said, “It is heartening to see snowy hills and white sheets here. A few days ago, our Chief Minister had shared pictures on social media, which made me even more eager to come here.”

A great gift as a servant PM Modi said that today I have brought a big gift for you as a servant. A few days ago, I had the opportunity to lay the foundation stone of the railway division in Jammu, which was your old demand. Today I have got the opportunity to hand over the Sonmarg Tunnel to the country. This was an old demand of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. After the formation of our government, the construction of this tunnel started in 2015 and today its work has been completed.
Towards new heights of progress, the Indian Prime Minister said that due to this tunnel, the connectivity of Sonamarg will remain even in winter, which will give new wings to tourism. In the coming days, many rail and road projects are going to be completed in Jammu and Kashmir. The Kashmir Valley will also be connected by rail soon. India is moving towards new heights of progress and every countryman is working to make India a developed nation by 2047.

Jammu and Kashmir is now becoming a hub of tunnels, high bridges and ropeways. The world’s highest tunnels and rail-road bridges are being built here.
People going to have ice cream at Lal Chowk The Prime Minister said that the tourism sector has a big contribution in the journey of developed India. Due to better connectivity, tourists will be able to reach even the remotest areas of Jammu and Kashmir. In the last 10 years, an atmosphere of peace and progress has been created in Jammu and Kashmir, which has also given a boost to tourism. In the year 2024, more than 2 crore tourists have visited Jammu and Kashmir. The number of tourists in Sonamarg has also increased 6 times, which has benefited the local people. Now people are going to eat ice cream at Lal Chowk even at night and the beauty of there is worth seeing.
