US Hit By blizzard

A blizzard has hit the United States, with some areas bracing for the heaviest snowfall in a decade. The Meteorological Department has already issued an alert. The blizzard’s fury in the U.S. On Sunday, snow, storms and falling temperatures in parts of the U.S. made the situation dangerous. Air, road as well as rail traffic has been affected by the blizzard. 

Roads in Kansas, western Nebraska and large parts of Indiana were blanketed in thick snow. The National Weather Service issued blizzard warnings for Kansas and Missouri. Wind gusts up to 45 mph are possible. The warning could reach New Jersey by Monday. “This is likely to be the heaviest snowfall in a decade in the region,” the weather department said. Nearly 63 million people in the U. S. were under a blizzard warning or alert on Sunday, according to the report. The storm is expected to dump up to 8 inches of snow. The spate of accidents on the roads had led authorities to warn that road travel could be very difficult or impossible.

Hundreds of car accidents have occurred in Missouri, Virginia, Indiana and Kansas. A portion of I-70 in Kansas was closed. About 10 inches of snow fell in some parts of the state, while more than 14 inches of snow is expected in Kansas and northern Missouri. Several major highways in Indiana are completely covered in snow and icy water, and local police have appealed to commuters not to get off the road. New snowfall records have been set in Louisville and Kentucky. The steep drop in temperature was between -12 to -7 degrees Celsius in Chicago on Sunday. 

The temperature in Minnesota’s International Falls dropped to -11 degrees Celsius. Bone-chilling cold and strong winds are expected to hit the eastern U.S. starting Monday. The snowstorm has affected rail traffic and schools have been closed in many states. Jefferson County Public Schools in Kentucky canceled classes and extracurricular activities for Monday. These types of storms can increase due to the rapid warming of the Arctic region and the polar atmosphere. The cold wave is likely to intensify in the coming days. Special measures are being taken for relief in the affected areas.
