During the accident, the vehicle hit a crowd celebrating the New Year in the busy area of Bourbon Street. The injured have been taken to five nearby hospitals. The accident occurred at 3:15 am local time.
Driver fired shots, FBI investigating
Police said the driver of the car was at fault for the attack. He also fired shots at the police, injuring two officers. However, his condition is now stable. The FBI has taken over the investigation and recovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) from the scene. The investigation into this incident is underway.
