Chief Election Commissioner Announced The Date Of Delhi Election 2025

The Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar held a press conference today to announce the date of elections in Delhi. He said that allegations on EVMs start at the time of elections, while the Supreme Court has also said that EVMs cannot be hacked. 

Rajeev Kumar on EVMs 

Rajeev Kumar said that various rumours were spread about EVMs and allegations were made without any concrete basis. He clarified that the batteries of EVMs are sealed in public and the machines are commissioned 7-8 days before the elections. Despite this, allegations start at the time of elections. He also said that during the voting, the polling agent knows who got how many votes. All polling agents are present inside the polling station. The Supreme Court has also confirmed that EVMs cannot be hacked. Rajeev Kumar said that it is not possible to cast invalid votes in EVMs and no discrepancy has been found in the matching of VVPATs. 

Voter turnout in Delhi 

The Chief Election Commissioner said that there are a total of 1.55 crore voters in Delhi, including 83.89 lakh male and 71.74 lakh female voters. Delhi has a total of 13,033 polling booths.

Election dates in Delhi 

Rajiv Kumar announced that polling in Delhi will be held on February 5 and the results will be declared on February 8. Polling for all the seats in Delhi will be held in a single phase. After the announcement of the election dates, political activities have intensified and the parties have little time left for preparations.
