Let us tell you that Chinmoy Das, a former member of ISKCON and spokesperson of Bangladesh Sammilito Sanatani Jagran Jot, was arrested on 25 November at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka in a sedition case. After his arrest, Hindus started protests across the country.

According to the report of Dhaka’s The Daily Star, the bail petition (Court verdict Chinmoy Krishna) filed by a team of 11 Supreme Court lawyers who went to Chittagong from Dhaka was rejected by Metropolitan Session Judge MD Saiful Islam after hearing the arguments of both the sides for about 30 minutes. The team of 11 lawyers was led by advocate Apurba Kumar Bhattacharya. Apurba is also the spokesperson of Sammilito Sanatani Jagran Jot. Chinmoy Krishna Das is also a part of this organization. Let us tell you that after the threat of public beating by Islamic fundamentalists, no lawyer was available to represent Chinmoy in the Chittagong court. After a month of which, the hearing took place today amid tight security.

Chinmoy Krishna Das’s previous lawyer, Rabindranath Ghosh, is admitted to Kolkata’s Seth Sukhlal Karnani Memorial Hospital due to chest pain. 75-year-old Ghosh had tried his best to get legal help for Chinmoy Das in December. Senior lawyer Ghosh said that “when he went to file a bail plea, he was harassed and attacked outside the court.” Meanwhile, hundreds of lawyers clashed in the courtroom during the hearing, causing chaos. Meanwhile, his bail hearing was postponed by a court till January 2 (Court verdict Chinmoy Krishna), citing non-availability of a lawyer.
