According to the information received, thousands of people had gathered in front of this house located in Dhanmondi area. During this, the protesters had called for a ‘bulldozer procession’. She said that “they cannot destroy our national flag, constitution and independence, which we have achieved with the sacrifice of millions of people.” This was a reference to the rule of Muhammad Yunus, head of the interim government of Bangladesh. Sheikh Hasina further said that “They can demolish a building, but not history. They should also remember that history takes its revenge.” The 77-year-old former Prime Minister became emotional and said that Pakistani soldiers had looted this house even during the 1971 Liberation War, but did not demolish it or set it on fire. Today this house is being demolished. What crime did it commit? Why were they so afraid of this house. I demand justice from the people of the country. Did I not do anything for you?”

Abdul Hannan Masood, a prominent organizer of the anti-discrimination student movement, in a Facebook post called for the demolition of the residences of all former Awami League MPs and ministers (Sheikh Mujib house fire). Hasina has been living in India since August 5, when she fled from Bangladesh after a large student-led protest.” Meanwhile, the Awami League has made serious allegations against the interim government regarding the vandalism at Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s house. The Awami League accused the interim government of Bangladesh of misusing the state machinery and said that ever since the illegal, unconstitutional and fascist Yunus government has captured the power of the state, it has captured the state machinery for its own benefit
