PM Modi’s Historic Visit to Ghana and Namibia Strengthens India-Africa Ties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently made a very important visit to the African countries of Ghana and Namibia. This visit was historic because it was the first time in many years that an Indian Prime Minister visited these countries. His visit aimed to make the friendship between India and Africa stronger and to work together in areas like healthcare, digital technology, defence, minerals, and trade.

In Ghana, PM Modi was warmly welcomed. He met the President of Ghana, John Mahama, and both leaders talked about working closely in the future. India and Ghana signed four important agreements called MoUs. One big step was India’s plan to set up a vaccine hub in Ghana. This will help make vaccines in Africa so that people there can get them faster and at lower cost. It will also help Ghana become stronger in the health sector.

India also wants to support Ghana in other ways. There are already many Indian businesses in Ghana, and trade between the two countries is worth around 3 billion US dollars. Most of this trade includes gold from Ghana. With these new agreements, India and Ghana hope to increase their business even more. PM Modi also spoke in Ghana’s Parliament and met the Indian community living there, thanking them for their support and love.

After visiting Ghana, PM Modi went to Namibia. This visit was also special because it was the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country. He met Namibia’s new President, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, and they discussed many important things. One major highlight of this visit was the agreement to bring India’s UPI payment system to Namibia. This system, already very popular in India, will help people in Namibia make payments easily using their phones. It is a big step towards making digital transactions easier in Africa.

India also agreed to help Namibia by setting up a special centre to teach people about computers and digital skills. Defence cooperation was another important topic. India offered training to Namibia’s defence forces and discussed working together in defence technology. Namibia has many valuable minerals like uranium, copper, cobalt, and lithium. Both countries agreed to explore ways to work together in mining these important resources.
