On the occasion of Mahakumbh (Mahakumbh 2025), Uttar Pradesh Police and Administration kept claiming world class arrangements and the accident happened. From the first day of Mahakumbh to every day, there was an atmosphere like Makar Sankranti or Vasant Panchami of common Magh Melas. It was almost certain that crores of devotees would come to Prayagraj for Amrit Snan in this Mahakumbh. The administration had estimated the arrival of about eight to 10 crore devotees, so arrangements should have been made on a large scale in such a situation. Arrangements were also made. Well, what was to happen has happened. On Tuesday night at around 1.30 am, there was a stampede (Reasons for Kumbh stampede) at Sangam Nose. And in this stampede, about 90 devotees were injured and 30 people died. It has been confirmed by the administration. Meanwhile, 25 dead have been identified, while five have not been identified yet. This information was given by DIG Vaibhav Krishna and Mela Adhikari Vijay Kiran Anand in a press conference late Wednesday evening.
Reasons for stampede in Mahakumbh
Actually, this accident happened due to the competition to take bath in Brahma Muhurta on the second and biggest festival of Mahakumbh, Mauni Amavasya. Police and administrative officials kept claiming world class preparations, but due to a slight mistake, the accident happened. Now orders have been given for a judicial inquiry into why the accident happened. Now whatever the reason, there are many reasons that can be seen with open eyes. Let us know what were the reasons (Reasons for Kumbh stampede) due to which such a big accident happened.
Sending the crowd towards Sangam at 8 pm

As it was being anticipated that crores of devotees would come in Mahakumbh 2025. The administration had also claimed world class arrangements. Not only this, 84 holding areas were also made to control the crowd. Perhaps these were not used. The amazing thing is that on Tuesday night when the devotees were sitting at Kali Marg parking and other places, they were sent towards Sangam only after 8 pm. In such a situation, a huge crowd of devotees gathered by 9 pm (Reasons for Kumbh stampede). Lakhs of devotees gathered at one place in the desire to take a bath in Brahma Muhurta.
Not opening the pontoon bridge for the public
The administration had built 30 pontoon bridges in the fair area so that the movement of devotees coming to Triveni Sangam can be better. Despite the possibility of crowd, the government did not open 12 to 13 pontoon bridges. Because of this, the devotees coming to Sangam from Jhunsi have to walk several kilometers. Due to covering a long distance, the elderly pilgrims were getting tired and sitting on Sangam Nose. This was also one of the reasons for the increase in crowd at Sangam Nose. Due to which the accident happened.
Keeping the roads closed
On the holy festival of Maha Kumbh, the roads were widened for the devotees coming from all over the world. This is fine, but the surprising thing is that the government did not open most of the roads. Not only were the roads closed most of the time, but barricading was done on the main routes. Due to which the devotees had to walk continuously for several kilometers. Obviously, due to walking for several kilometers, the devotees got tired and sat down on the banks of Sangam. Once they sat down, they did not get up to rest. This also became a reason for the crowd at Sangam.
Having a one-way plan for exit

According to the information received, the biggest mistake of the government was that the government had made a one-way plan for every bath. It means that the devotees would cross the Triveni Dam from Kali Sadak and go to Sangam Nose from Sangam Upper Road and were to be taken out of Triveni Dam via Akshayvat Road from Triveni Road. But this plan failed. Not many devotees went to Akshayvat Marg. Instead of going to Akshayvat Marg, devotees started coming and going from Sangam Upper Marg.
Force not able to reach on time due to crowd
After the accident, all the forces were deployed for relief and rescue work. The force was deployed but not everyone was seated in different sectors. Let us tell you that CISF company was deployed in Sector Number 10. When the accident happened on Tuesday night, the company was called. But due to the crowd, it took them a lot of time to reach Sector 3. This is also the reason due to which the situation became worse later.
