Like Hindus, there is no caste system in Islam, but if you look at the society of Indian Muslims, they also have a caste system. Muslims say we are all equal. As easy as it sounds, the reality is quite the opposite. Even graveyards have been built based on castes in the village. Just as there are Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, and Shudras among the Hindus, the Indian Muslims are also divided into many castes. Just as Hindus have a caste system, Muslims are also divided into three caste groups. One of them is Asharaf, the second is Ajlaf, and the third is Arzal.
These are groups of castes, within which different castes are included. For example, Ashraf includes upper castes such as Sayyids, Sheikhs, Pathans, Mirzas, and Mughals. Similarly, there is a second category of Muslims, the Ajlaf, consisting of the Ansari, the Mansuri, the Rayan, and the Quraishi. While Qureshi is into the meat business, Ansari is into textile weaving. And the third class is the Arzals, including the Halalkhor, Hawari, and Razzaq. Manual scavengers are called halakhot in Muslim society, and washermen are called dhobis.
How Muslims are divided into castes can be gauged from the fact that castes like Halalkhor, Hawari, and Razzaq are not even given burial spaces in the graveyards of Sayyids, Sheikhs, and Pathans. Sometimes deaths occur. From life to death, Muslims are divided into castes. Barring a couple of exceptions, there is no bread-and-butter relationship, let alone marriage. But if you ask any community of Muslims, they say that the caste system does not apply in the mosque because Islam does not allow it. Islam doesn’t allow this.
Let us tell you that the caste system in Muslims is also like that of Hindus. They also like to get married, seeing their caste and community. Even among Muslims, the customs of different castes are different. Whether it is marriage or profession, everyone has their traditions. Not only this, even in Muslim areas, colonies are formed based on caste. The Muslim castes are so divided that they do not see eye to eye with each other. Let us tell you that Turks and Lodhi Muslims live in Sambhal, in western Uttar Pradesh. Not only do they have their areas, but there is also a lot of tension between them. But it is only Hindus who have to divide the leaders of the country.
