‘Conspiracy to create a Pakistan-Bangladesh atmosphere’: Court sentences man to life imprisonment for love jihad

A court in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly district has given a major verdict in the case of marrying a Hindu girl by hiding her religion and identity and getting an abortion. The court of ADJ Ravi Kumar Diwakar convicted the accused and sentenced him to life imprisonment, while his father has also been sentenced to 2 years. The court passed strictures while sentencing the convicts and said that “this is a case of illegal conversion through love jihad.” Muslim men are similarly targeting Hindu women by converting them to Islam through marriage. It seems that a special conspiracy is being hatched to create a situation like Pakistan and Bangladesh in the country.”

The Bareilly ADJ (Fast Track Court I) has convicted and sentenced Alim, a resident of Jadopur in the police station Deornia area, to life imprisonment in this case of love jihad and illegal conversion. The accused, Aalim, married a Hindu student posing as Anand and forced her to undergo an abortion. The court directed that a copy of its order be sent to the Chief Secretary and the DGP, saying Hindu women were being forced to convert by luring them with marriage and jobs. The way this is happening, foreign funding can also not be ruled out. It is a big threat to the integrity, unity, and sovereignty of the country. It is very important to stop it in time.

Alim’s motive was love jihad and illegal conversion

While sentencing the convict, the court said that Alim’s motive was clear; he cheated the victim by concealing his identity. He married her and sexually abused her. To prevent such cases of love jihad and illegal conversions, the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act 2021 is in place. Our Constitution gives every citizen of the country the fundamental right to profess and propagate his religion, but illegal conversions cannot take place. The court also convicted Alim’s father Sabir in the case. The court sentenced Sabir to two years imprisonment for intimidating and beating the victim.
