A big increase in insurance cover
Under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, till now every family used to get free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh annually. But now the government is planning to double this amount to Rs 10 lakh. Now people will be able to get free treatment up to Rs 10 lakh in a year. This change is very big and it will help people a lot in getting treatment for serious diseases.
More facilities for women
This facility will benefit women. The government plans to increase this amount to Rs 15 lakh for women in certain diseases and circumstances. This step is being taken keeping in mind the health of women. This will enable women to get better health services and they will be able to get their complete treatment.
Benefits will reach more people
At present, about 55 crore people of the country are getting the benefit of this scheme. But the government wants this number to increase to 100 crores. That is, now even more people will be able to get free treatment. This means that more than half of the country’s population will get the benefit of this scheme. Apart from this, the government has taken another big decision. Now all people above 70 years of age will also get the benefit of this scheme. That is, the elderly will not have to worry about their treatment. They will also be able to get free treatment under this scheme.
Hospital beds will increase
With the increase in the number of people getting treatment under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, the number of beds in hospitals will also have to be increased. Therefore, the government plans to add 4 lakh new beds in private hospitals. This will enable more people to get treatment and they will not have trouble getting a place in the hospital. Currently, there are about 7 lakh beds in private hospitals which provide treatment under this scheme. The government plans to increase this number to 9.32 lakh by 2026-27 and to 11.12 lakh by 2028-29. This will also enable people living in villages and small towns to get good treatment.
