OpenAI Rolls Out GPT-6 With Faster Responses, Interactive Visuals and New ChatGPT Features

San Francisco, October 8, 2026: OpenAI has begun rolling out GPT-6 more broadly across ChatGPT, introducing faster response starts and a new Intelligent UI that can combine text, visuals and interactive elements directly inside conversations. The rollout began for paid plans on October 7 and expands to Free and Go users from October 8.

GPT-6 Brings ‘Intelligent UI’ to ChatGPT

The biggest visible change is Intelligent UI, which allows ChatGPT to decide when an answer is better presented with more than plain text.

Responses can now include elements such as graphics, charts, tappable buttons, forms and interactive tools depending on what the user asks.

Interactive Tools Can Be Created Inside a Chat

Users can ask ChatGPT to generate interactive experiences directly in the conversation.

OpenAI says examples include calculators, bill splitters, learning tools and simple games that can be used without leaving the chat.

GPT-6 Can Start Answering While Still Thinking

GPT-6 can begin showing useful information before the entire reasoning or tool-use process is complete.

This means users may start reading an answer while ChatGPT continues processing and adds more information progressively.

Faster Response Starts

OpenAI says GPT-6 is designed to reduce the wait before users begin seeing an answer.

The company reports that GPT-6 Instant starts answering web-search questions 44% sooner on average than GPT-5.6 Instant, although this measures time to begin responding rather than total completion time.

Paid Users Get GPT-6 Sol

For Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users, ChatGPT’s new GPT-6 experience is based on GPT-6 Sol.

The rollout for these users started globally on October 7.

Free and Go Users Get GPT-6 Luna

OpenAI is expanding GPT-6 to Free and Go users from October 8, using GPT-6 Luna.

Both Sol and Luna support Intelligent UI for everyday ChatGPT conversations.

Visuals Adapt to the Question

Intelligent UI does not force every response into a visual format.

OpenAI says GPT-6 can choose between ordinary text, side-by-side comparisons, diagrams, charts or interactive components depending on what would be most useful for the task.

Work and Codex Models Are Not Changing With This Rollout

The October rollout specifically updates the Chat experience.

OpenAI’s release notes state that the models powering Work and Codex are not changing as part of this particular release.

Safety Measures Included in GPT-6 Deployment

OpenAI says the GPT-6 rollout includes updated safety work alongside the new interface and performance improvements.

The company is deploying the models globally while continuing to evaluate how users interact with the new capabilities.

GPT-6 Becomes More Widely Available Today

With Free and Go rollout beginning October 8, GPT-6 is moving from an earlier paid-user release to much broader ChatGPT availability.

The expansion makes faster responses and interactive answer formats accessible to a significantly larger user base.
