Four Killed in Factory Blast at Andhra Pradesh’s Sri City Near Tirupati; Rescue Operations Underway

TIRUPATI, October 3: At least four workers were killed and around 10 others injured after a powerful boiler explosion at the TIL Healthcare pharmaceutical manufacturing unit in Sri City, Tirupati district, Andhra Pradesh, on Saturday morning. The blast caused part of the building to collapse, prompting an immediate rescue and relief operation.

Boiler Explosion Reported at TIL Healthcare Unit

The explosion occurred at around 8 am while workers, including night-shift employees, were present at the facility.

Preliminary information indicates that a water boiler exploded, though authorities are still investigating the exact cause of the accident.

Four Workers Confirmed Dead

Two workers reportedly died at the factory premises, while two others succumbed to their injuries during treatment.

The casualty figure remains subject to official updates as rescue teams continue assessing the site and hospitals treat the injured.

Around 10 Workers Injured

Several employees sustained injuries in the explosion, with some reported to be in serious condition.

Ambulances shifted the injured workers to nearby hospitals, where they are receiving medical treatment.

Part of Factory Building Collapses

The force of the explosion damaged the factory structure and caused a section of the roof to collapse.

Workers were reportedly trapped beneath debris, forcing police, fire personnel and emergency teams to conduct search and rescue operations.

A fire that broke out following the explosion was brought under control by emergency personnel.

Chandrababu Naidu Orders Inquiry

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed grief over the deaths and sought details about the accident and rescue operations.

He directed officials to provide full assistance to the families of the deceased and ensure proper medical treatment for the injured.

Safety Violations to Be Investigated

The Chief Minister also ordered a detailed inquiry into the cause of the boiler explosion.

Officials have been instructed to examine whether any negligence or violations of industrial safety norms contributed to the accident.

Rescue and Assessment Operations Continue

Emergency teams remain at the site as authorities assess the extent of the damage and verify whether all workers have been accounted for.
