DoorDash to Create 3,000 Jobs at New Global Technology Centre in India Over Next Two Years

HYDERABAD, September 30: US-based local commerce company DoorDash has opened a new global technology and operations hub in Hyderabad, with plans to create around 3,000 jobs in India over the next two years.

The new centre begins operations with approximately 500 employees and will support DoorDash’s global business across customer experience, integrity and general administrative functions.

Hyderabad Hub Starts With 500 Employees

The new facility is located in HITEC City, Hyderabad and initially employs around 500 professionals.

DoorDash plans to steadily expand the workforce to around 3,000 employees over the next two years as the centre takes on additional responsibilities.

Centre to Support Global Operations

The Hyderabad facility will support DoorDash’s international operations rather than functioning as a local food-delivery business in India.

Teams at the centre will initially work across areas such as Customer Experience and Integrity, customer support and general administrative functions.

The hub could also develop specialised capabilities in areas including fraud review, integrity operations and technical support.

DoorDash Chooses Hyderabad for Talent Pool

Hyderabad was selected because of its large technology workforce, business infrastructure and growing global capability centre ecosystem.

The city has attracted several major multinational companies seeking skilled professionals in technology, operations, analytics and customer support.

DoorDash’s expansion adds another large international company to Hyderabad’s growing corporate-services sector.

Workforce to Grow Over Next Two Years

DoorDash plans to expand employment at the Hyderabad centre from approximately 500 people initially to around 3,000 over two years.

The expansion could create opportunities across customer support, operations, administrative functions and potentially more specialised technology-related roles.

Hiring is expected to take place gradually as the company increases the responsibilities handled from India.

Third DoorDash-Owned Customer Support Hub Globally

The Hyderabad facility will become DoorDash’s third company-owned Customer Experience and Integrity centre worldwide.

The company already operates similar facilities in Tempe, Arizona, and Mexico City.

The India centre will therefore become an important part of DoorDash’s global customer-support network.

DoorDash Already Has Technology Presence in Pune

Hyderabad is not DoorDash’s first technology presence in India.

The company already has teams in Pune, where employees work across software engineering, data and analytics.

That presence developed after DoorDash acquired robotics startup Chowbotics in 2021.

The Hyderabad centre significantly expands the company’s direct workforce in India.

DoorDash Operates Across More Than 40 Countries

DoorDash’s global platform operates across more than 40 countries.

The company serves more than 56 million monthly active consumers and handles billions of orders across its international businesses.

Employees at the Hyderabad hub will support operations serving users across these global markets.

Global Companies Increasing Investment in Hyderabad

Hyderabad has emerged as one of India’s major destinations for Global Capability Centres (GCCs).

International companies increasingly use such centres for functions including technology development, finance, analytics, customer support and business operations.

Several major global brands have established or expanded operations in the city in recent years.

Hyderabad Hosts More Than 500 GCCs

Hyderabad is home to more than 500 Global Capability Centres, employing more than five lakh people.

The city continues to attract companies seeking a combination of technology talent, infrastructure and comparatively competitive operating costs.

The Telangana government is also seeking to attract additional GCC investments and high-value employment opportunities.

India Becomes Global GCC Hub

India has become the world’s largest location for global capability centres.

More than 2,100 GCCs currently operate across the country, employing approximately 2.36 million people.

These centres collectively generate close to $100 billion in annual revenue, demonstrating their increasing importance to India’s technology and services economy.

Companies Reduce Dependence on External Contractors

Many multinational companies are increasingly building their own captive centres in India rather than relying entirely on external IT and outsourcing companies.

Directly operated facilities give companies greater control over technology, customer experience, data and business processes.

DoorDash’s Hyderabad expansion reflects this broader shift toward internally managed global operations centres.

New Jobs Could Span Multiple Functions

The initial focus of the Hyderabad hub will be customer experience and administrative operations.

However, the company has indicated that specialised functions could be added as the centre develops.

Potential areas could include integrity operations, fraud review and technical services connected with DoorDash’s global platform.

Hyderabad Strengthens Position as Global Technology Hub

DoorDash’s decision to expand in Hyderabad reinforces the city’s position as a major destination for multinational technology and services operations.

The planned increase from 500 employees to around 3,000 represents a significant new employment commitment.

As global companies continue expanding their capability centres in India, Hyderabad is expected to remain one of the key beneficiaries of the trend.
