AICHI-NAGOYA, September 24: India added two medals early on Day 6 of the 2026 Asian Games, with Naorem Roshibina Devi winning silver in women’s 60kg sanda wushu and the rowing pair of Satnam Singh and Salman Khan claiming bronze in the men’s double sculls. The results gave India a strong start to Thursday’s medal events in Japan.
Roshibina Devi Takes Silver in Women’s Sanda 60kg
Roshibina Devi finished with silver after losing the women’s sanda 60kg final to China’s Zhang Xiaoyu.
Zhang won the gold-medal bout 2-0, taking both rounds against the Indian athlete.
The silver continues Roshibina’s remarkable consistency at the Asian Games.
Third Consecutive Asian Games Medal for Roshibina
The 2026 silver is Roshibina Devi’s third consecutive Asian Games medal.
She had earlier won:
- Bronze at Jakarta 2018
- Silver at Hangzhou 2023
- Silver at Aichi-Nagoya 2026
The achievement makes her the first Indian wushu athlete to win medals at three successive Asian Games, according to Hindustan Times.

India’s second early medal of the day came in the men’s double sculls rowing final.
Satnam Singh and Salman Khan clocked 6 minutes 13.25 seconds to finish third and claim bronze at the Nagaragawa International Regatta Course.
The Indian pair were in second position at the 1,500-metre mark before slipping to third during the final stretch.
China Take Gold, Uzbekistan Win Silver
In the men’s double sculls final, China won gold, while Uzbekistan finished second.
India’s bronze is especially significant because it is the country’s first Asian Games medal in the men’s double sculls event, according to reports on Thursday.
Balraj Panwar Misses Medal in Single Sculls
India narrowly missed another rowing medal earlier in the day.
Balraj Panwar finished fourth in the men’s single sculls Final A, just outside the podium places.
India has several other rowing crews competing in medal events later in the day, including the men’s lightweight double sculls and quadruple sculls teams.

Thursday remains a busy medal day for the Indian contingent.
