NEW DELHI, September 11: Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in New Delhi on Friday for a three-day visit to attend the 18th BRICS Summit, scheduled for September 12–13. Putin is also set to hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi today.
Modi-Putin Talks in Focus
The two leaders are expected to discuss trade, investment, energy and strategic cooperation, along with major regional and global developments. Putin is also expected to participate in the BRICS Business Forum and other summit-related events.
Iran President Pezeshkian Arrives Today
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is scheduled to arrive in New Delhi today and hold a bilateral meeting with PM Modi ahead of the summit.
The talks carry added significance amid the ongoing conflict in West Asia and disruption to energy supplies through the Strait of Hormuz.
BRICS Leaders Gather in Delhi
The summit will bring together leaders of the expanded 11-member BRICS grouping, including China’s Xi Jinping, Putin and Pezeshkian.
The Middle East conflict, global trade, financial cooperation and supply-chain resilience are expected to feature prominently in the discussions.
