PM Modi Reviews Infrastructure and Reforms

New Delhi, July 1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level review meeting with Secretaries to the Government of India on Wednesday to assess the progress of key infrastructure projects, governance reforms, and flagship initiatives under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat programme. The meeting brought together senior officials from various ministries to evaluate implementation, improve inter-ministerial coordination, and accelerate the delivery of public services.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of efficient governance, timely execution of projects, and greater use of technology to ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach citizens quickly and transparently.

Focus on Infrastructure Development

A major part of the meeting was dedicated to reviewing the progress of national infrastructure projects under initiatives such as the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan. Officials presented updates on highways, railways, ports, airports, logistics corridors, and urban development projects currently being implemented across the country.

The Prime Minister directed ministries to ensure that projects are completed within stipulated timelines while maintaining quality standards and improving coordination among departments.

Governance Reforms Reviewed

The meeting also examined ongoing governance reforms aimed at making public administration more transparent, efficient, and citizen-centric.

Officials discussed measures to simplify administrative procedures, strengthen digital governance, reduce compliance burdens, and improve service delivery through technology-enabled platforms.

The Prime Minister encouraged departments to adopt innovative practices and leverage digital solutions to enhance accountability and responsiveness.

Push for Aatmanirbhar Bharat

The review highlighted progress made under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative, which focuses on strengthening domestic manufacturing, promoting innovation, encouraging indigenous technology, and reducing dependence on imports.

Prime Minister Modi reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting local industries, startups, MSMEs, and strategic sectors such as defence manufacturing, electronics, renewable energy, and semiconductors.

Technology and Innovation in Governance

Senior officials also discussed the increased use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), data analytics, digital platforms, and integrated monitoring systems to improve policy implementation and public service delivery.

The Prime Minister emphasised that technology should be used to make governance more efficient, transparent, and accessible while ensuring that citizens receive timely benefits from government programmes.

Directions to Ministries

PM Modi instructed all ministries to continue working in close coordination and maintain regular reviews of flagship projects. He urged officials to adopt a results-oriented approach, resolve implementation bottlenecks promptly, and focus on measurable outcomes.

The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of strengthening Centre-State cooperation to ensure faster execution of development projects and better utilisation of public resources.

Government Reaffirms Development Agenda

The high-level review meeting reflects the government’s continued focus on infrastructure-led growth, administrative reforms, and self-reliance as key pillars of India’s long-term development strategy.

Officials said periodic reviews at the highest level help improve project monitoring, accelerate decision-making, and ensure that national development priorities remain on track.
