IND vs BAN 2ND Test: Record-Breaking Day for Indian Cricket

In the current ongoing 2-test match series between India and Bangladesh, India is leading the series 1-0 after having won the first test. The second ongoing test started very slow and low, with India winning the toss and choosing to bowl. Bangladesh was batting the whole day and scored 107/3. The 2nd and 3rd days of the test match were wasted due to a rain interruption at Kanpur. Finally, the play resumed on Day 4, as the weather was clear and the sun was out. Bangladesh were all out for 233 runs, with Mominul Haque unbeaten on 107*.

India finally got to bat on Day 4 of the test match and created history. The Indian team was required to bat aggressively to get the result out of the second test. The captain, Rohit Sharma, who is also the opener alongside Yashashvi Jaiswal, played the aggressive brand of cricket, as it also must be the strategy of the management.

This day was truly special for Indian cricket, as we saw a few records broken and a few landmarks achieved. It all started with Sir Jadeja getting his 300th wicket in test matches, as he just needed 1 wicket to get there. Lucky for him, the last wicket of the Bangladesh lineup was taken by him, and it was caught and bowled. He took it upon himself. The all-rounder has now become the 3rd Indian to achieve the elite double feat of 3000 runs and 300 wickets in Tests after Kapil and Ashwin.

Let’s talk about the batting heroics now

Virat Kohli is not any surprising name, be it setting new records or achieving a new feat. The 35-year-old batting maestro achieved the feat in his 594th inning, outpacing Tendulkar, who reached the same milestone in his 623rd inning back in 2007. Kohli now joins an elite group of cricketers, becoming only the fourth batter to have surpassed 27,000 runs, including Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, and Kumar Sangakkara. Also, he became the fastest batter to reach 27,000 international runs.

In a stunning display of aggressive batting, India’s opening pair Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed the world record for the fastest team 50 and 100 in Test cricket. The 100 runs came in 61 balls, but the 50 runs came in just 18 balls, which is the fastest since test cricket began. After this, India eventually declared at 285 for 9 wickets, with only Kl Rahul from the middle order scoring the highest individual score with 68 runs. And the match now stands at 26 for 2 wickets at the end of Day 4.
