Aman Sehrawat Wins Bronze in Men’s 57kg Wrestling at Paris Olympic 2024

India’s new star has shone at the Paris 2024 Olympics. A 21-year-old by the name of Aman Sehrawat has done wonders in his very first Olympics. On 10 August 2024, Aman was able to bag a bronze medal in a resolute 57 kg freestyle wrestling contest at Stade de France in Paris. This is the sixth medal for India in the ongoing Paralympics in Tokyo.

He was facing Puerto Rico’s Darian Cruz.

Aman went up against Puerto Rico’s Darian Cruz. Cruz took an early 1-0 lead, but Aman quickly overcame it. In the first half, the scoreboard read 6-3. He continued dominating the latter half of the bout. In that last minute, Cruz went for a big outward attack, one that Aman easily turned into his own points. The final score was 13-5 in his favor. This win is especially special, as he became the youngest person ever to win medals for India in the Olympics. His win has made the entire country feel proud.

Aman Sehrawat had an intriguing journey.

Aman Sehrawat’s journey has been pretty interesting. He hails from a small village in Sonepat, Haryana, and won his first national title in 2021. In 2022, he added to his credit a bronze medal at the Asian World Wrestling Championships and gold at the U23 World Wrestling Championships. He has continued his wonder through 2023, winning gold in the Asian World Championships and bronze in the Asian Games.

These victories by Aman have proven the adage that, with hard work and dedication, anything is attainable. “Aman has always been a hard worker,” vouches his coach Satpal Singh. Even at four in the morning, he would get up and begin training. This victory is the fruit of his hard work,” he said. His hard work has propelled wrestling to new heights in India. The real hope is that, in the future, Aman will inspire more young players to bring laurels to the country in the Olympics.
