The election fervor has begun in Jammu and Kashmir. Following the election announcement, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has started crafting its electoral strategy, along with other parties. The 90-member Jammu and Kashmir Assembly will see elections conducted in three phases—on September 18, September 25, and October 1. The results for Jammu & Kashmir and Haryana will be revealed on October 4. To show its sustained faith in Ram Madhav, the BJP has given him the responsibility for Jammu and Kashmir in this regard. Notably, Ram Madhav played a key role in both the preparation of the Article 370 repeal and the establishment of the BJP-PDP coalition government in Jammu & Kashmir in 2014. Clearly, the BJP has high hopes from him once again, which is why he has been given this crucial role.
Ram Madhav Was Removed from BJP Due to Faulty Strategy
It’s important to note that after five years, Ram Madhav is making a return to the BJP. Following the establishment of the Modi government in 2014, Ram Madhav’s stature within the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) grew rapidly. However, due to the failure of the government formation strategy with the PDP in Jammu and Kashmir, he was removed from the BJP and sent back to the RSS. Despite being removed due to a flawed strategy, Ram Madhav has now been given significant responsibility within the party once again after five years. Political analysts are speculating that the RSS might be concerned about a possible BJP defeat.
JP Nadda’s Statement Strained Relations Between RSS and BJP
During the Lok Sabha election campaign, BJP President JP Nadda had mentioned contesting elections without the support of the RSS, which led to tensions between the two. As a result, the BJP suffered greatly since it was forced to rely on other parties in order to win a complete majority in the middle. Even though political wrangling ultimately resulted in the formation of the Modi government, the BJP remains sorry about its needless confrontation with the RSS. In the hope that it would be a winning card, the BJP sought to take advantage of the Ram Temple controversy in the Lok Sabha elections. But this backfired, and even the seat of Ayodhya was lost as a result.
No Benefit from Internal Conflicts
The outcome of the Lok Sabha elections in 2024 demonstrated that the RSS is well aware of the fact that internal conflict ends in disadvantages rather than benefits. As a result, the RSS is eager to stop the BJP from winning because it would be detrimental to the RSS as well. The RSS is doing all in its power to influence the upcoming first assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir since Article 370 was repealed. The BJP has also acknowledged its error and is being cautious to avoid doing anything that would damage the party. It’s clear that, like the BJP, the RSS is also unwilling to take any risks. This is why both have set aside their differences and are working together on election strategies. As for Ram Madhav, the election results will reveal what he can achieve for the BJP.
