A large-scale civil defence mock drill is being conducted across five Indian states (Operation Abhyaas’) that share borders with Pakistan — Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, and Haryana. This is most likely to be conducted from 5p.m to 8p.m. The news is not yet validated from any ministry of home affairs state yet but the drill is most likely to happen as said by local authorities. This exercise is being carried out to test and improve the emergency response systems of these border regions.

The goal is to ensure that, in case of any sudden danger like a natural disaster or conflict, authorities and civilians are ready to handle the situation. These drills involve police, paramilitary forces, medical teams, and local volunteers. They simulate emergency situations such as evacuations, medical rescue operations, and communication breakdowns. Practicing these situations helps everyone understand their role and responsibilities, which can save many lives during real crises.

What is most likely to happen?

There is no need to panic as the drill is going to be entirely safe and sound. It is just a precaution to be ready in the future. Black outs and evacuation processes are most likely expected as well as people might hear sirens. There is no need to panic. We must remain calm and composed as it is a mock drill, an initiative for future preparedness.
