Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will be cremated with state honours at Nigambodh Ghat at 11:45 AM today. The Union Home Ministry gave this information on Friday. 92-year-old Dr. Manmohan Singh passed away on Thursday night at AIIMS, New Delhi.
“The government has decided to accord state funeral to Dr Manmohan Singh. For this, the Ministry of Defense has been requested to arrange the funeral with full military honors. Before the last rites, Dr Singh’s body will be kept at the Congress headquarters for people to pay their last respects.
Decision on allotment of site for the memorial
The Union Home Ministry on Friday night also announced that the government will allocate space for Dr Manmohan Singh’s memorial. His family and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge have been informed. Congress President Rahul Gandhi has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, requesting them to allot space for the memorial of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.

Soon after the Cabinet meeting, the Union Home Minister informed Kharge and Dr Singh’s family that the government will allot space for the memorial, the Home Ministry said. The ministry also said that the process of formation of trust and allotment of site for the memorial will be completed soon.
