A statement by Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar has become a topic of discussion in the political corridors of the state. Ajith created a political sensation by saying that if the BJP and Shiv Sena give him the post of CM, he will bring the entire Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) with him. CM Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis were also present when Ajith was making this statement.

This was the occasion of the book launch of CM Eknath Shinde’s biography ‘Yodhdha Karmayogi-Eknath Sambhaji Shinde’. Ajith quipped in the same program that, “I jokingly said to some people of BJP that you people had asked Eknath Shinde to bring so many MLAs and get the post of Chief Minister, then you should have asked me too. I will bring the entire NCP party for you.” Meanwhile, Ajit Pawar jokingly said that he is senior to CM Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in politics.

Ajit Pawar has expressed his desire to become Chief Minister several times

Let it be known that Ajit Pawar joined the BJP-Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) with 40 MLAs after breaking away from his uncle Sharad Pawar, the founder of NCP, in 2023, after which he was made the Deputy Chief Minister. Since then, Ajit Pawar has expressed his desire to become the Chief Minister several times. This time also Ajit Pawar said that “Fadnavis became an MLA for the first time in 1999 and Shinde in 2004, while I became an MLA only in 1990. So in politics I am the senior of both of them, but both of them have moved on and I was left behind.” Actually, Fadnavis has become the Chief Minister twice from 2014 to 2019 and for 72 hours in 2019 and Shinde is still the Chief Minister. Ajit Pawar has not yet become the Chief Minister.

There have been 2 big changes in the politics of Maharashtra in the last 2 years

In 2022, Shinde broke the Shiv Sena and joined hands with the BJP along with 39 Shiv Sena MLAs. Due to which the Maha Vikas Aghadi government led by Thackeray fell and Shinde became the Chief Minister. At the same time, in July 2023, Ajit Pawar joined the Shinde government along with 40 MLAs and became the deputy CM in the coalition government.
