Yogi government has taken a big step in Uttar Pradesh. The government has stopped the salary of those state employees for the month of August who did not give the details of their property on time. This decision will affect 2.44 lakh employees. Let us understand this issue in detail.
What is the whole matter?
Actually, the Yogi government had asked all the state employees to give full details of their property on the Manav Sampada portal by August 31. In this, they had to give information about their movable and immovable property. But many employees did not follow this instruction. As a result, the government took strict action and decided to stop the salary of such employees.
Why is the government’s stance so strict?
Yogi government believes that giving property details is necessary for transparency. This will help in curbing corruption. Also, this step will encourage honest employees. The Chief Secretary had issued a government order in this regard on August 17 itself. He had clarified that all employees will have to disclose their assets.
How many employees gave property details?
There are a total of 846640 state employees in Uttar Pradesh. Out of these, only 602075 employees have given details of their assets. That is, only about 71% of the employees followed the government’s instructions. The salaries of the remaining 29% of employees have now been stopped.
Employees of which departments were ahead and behind?
Some departments were ahead in giving property details, while some were behind. Employees of Sainik Welfare, Agriculture, Women Welfare, Sports, and Energy Department gave the most information. At the same time, employees of the Education Department lagged behind in this matter. Many of them have not yet given details of their assets.
No salary until property details are given.
The stand of the Yogi government is clear: until the employees do not give details of their assets, they will not get their salary. However, some departments have asked for more time. Especially the police department has asked for additional time due to festivals and recruitment exams. It is possible that the government may consider this and extend the deadline.
