The Waqf Amendment Bill was introduced to the Lok Sabha. During the debate, the opposition raised a ruckus and demanded the withdrawal of the Waqf Amendment Bill. However, in the midst of this, the MPs of Shiv Sena (UBT), a member of the India Alliance, disappeared from the chamber, a move that has since Milind Deora, an MP from the Shinde faction, targeted Shiv Sena head (UBT) Uddhav Thackeray for the abduction of Shiv Sena MPs. Milind Deora tweeted, “Today in Parliament, the absence of all Ubatha representatives from the Waqf Board Bill discussion exposed the real face of Uddhav Thackeray’s Ubatha and their duplicity.” Muslims cast their votes for you, so why are you remaining silent? Muslims will undoubtedly ask the Ubatha MPs for an answer to this question.Deora claimed that although Muslims in Maharashtra cast mostly votes for the party of Uddhav Thackeray, they received only silence in return.

Shrikant Shinde requests that hospitals and schools be built on Waqf grounds.

On the other hand, Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde supported the Waqf Amendment Bill, stating that its implementation actually benefits the minority Muslim population. The opposition objects to the measure because they want Muslim women to have equal representation. Once passed, the bill guarantees responsibility and openness in the Waqf Board. “The Waqf Board covers thousands of acres of land. Why does the Waqf Board not develop schools and hospitals on these territories for the minority community? The central government will construct hospitals and schools for the minority population in certain areas following the passage of the bill. 

A bill was referred to the Joint Parliamentary Committee.

Minister of Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju presented the measure in the Lok Sabha. The submission of the measure to a Joint Parliamentary Committee faced opposition. After extensive debate on the Waqf Act, Kiren Rijiju informed the Lok Sabha about the presentation of the amending bill. This will benefit children and Muslim women.
