In August, after former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left Bangladesh and took refuge in India, the new government of Mohammad Yunus, which was established, started harassing the minority Hindus living there. Bangladeshi fundamentalists targeted Hindu temples and houses of Hindus living there started getting burnt and murders started taking place every day. Apart from this, some organizations targeted ISKCON and even demanded to declare it a terrorist organization. Amidst the disturbance caused by unbridled fundamentalists, the matter heated up when ISKCON member Chinmay Krishna Das, who was protesting against the oppression of Hindus, was arrested by Bangladesh Police on charges of treason and sent to jail.

Bangladesh completely rejected India’s allegations

The surprising thing is that the police lathi-charged his supporters who were protesting against it. During this clash, a lawyer also died, for which Chinmay Das was also accused. Not only this, Chinmay Das was neither given bail nor a lawyer. India has expressed concern several times over the safety of Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh. But Bangladesh completely rejected India’s concerns. The issue of persecution of Hindus has now become the biggest reason for tension between the two countries. The Ministry of External Affairs raised the issue of persecution of Hindus and minorities in clear words, which Bangladesh did not like. Bangladesh completely rejected India’s allegations.
