There was a ruckus in Parliament today between the ruling party and the opposition over Baba Saheb Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar. Two Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MPs were also injured in the incident. The controversy surrounding Babasaheb Ambedkar is getting murkier by the day. Meanwhile, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has slammed the BJP.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor also condemned the incident. “It is unfortunate that Dr Ambedkar’s legacy and the Constitution have become a political battleground. The attitude of both the parties is not right. We must focus on the present and future problems. If the Opposition’s complaint is true, then the government should present the actual video of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s speech in the Rajya Sabha.”
Congress demands action
The Congress has written a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in this regard. In the letter, the Congress alleged that three BJP MPs “manhandled” Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi. Congress leaders say the incident is not only an attack on Rahul Gandhi’s dignity but also against the democratic traditions of Parliament.
The Congress has demanded a judicial inquiry into the incident and appropriate action. The letter was signed by Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal, Chief Whip Kodikunnil Suresh, Manickam Tagore and other leaders. Congress alleges, but name not clear Today, members of the ‘India’ alliance were peacefully protesting in the Parliament complex.
