On December 19, Lokayukta officials raided two premises allegedly linked to Sharma in Bhopal. In this raid, they seized cash worth Rs 2.1 crore besides gold and silver. After this, the Income Tax Department searched a vehicle parked in a field in Mendori village with a Regional Transport Officer’s plate and a siren on top, and found Rs 11 crore in cash and 52 kg of gold (Saurabh Sharma wealth) in a bag kept in that car. According to media reports, apart from cash and gold and silver, a list of those officers and politicians who were allegedly bribed by Sharma has also been found from his house. Not only this, expensive gifts including designer watches and bags were found during the search. This clearly shows how he must have been benefiting influential people.
Lookout notice issued against Saurabh Sharma
Well, Saurabh Sharma is absconding since this incident. The anticipatory bail application given by him in the court has also been rejected. On December 27, the ED allegedly searched the premises related to Sharma, his relatives and business associates. The Income Tax Department has issued a notice to him while the Lokayukta’s SPE has asked the State Criminal Investigation Department to issue a lookout notice for Sharma. The investigating officers are also not denying his being abroad.
