This day is known as Sakat Chauth and it is celebrated especially for the attainment of child happiness, protection of children and happiness and peace of the family. The auspicious timing of Sakat Chauth  

The Chaturthi Tithi of Magha Maah will start from 4:06 AM on 17th January 2025 and end at 5:30 AM on 18th January. Based on the Udaya Tithi, the Sakta Chauth fast will be observed on January 17, Friday. On this day, devotees observe a fast after worshipping the moon. The moonrise time will be at 9:09 pm on this day. 

Importance of Sakat Chauth  

The festival of Sakta Chauth is celebrated for the happiness and prosperity of the children. It is also known as Maghi Chauth. The worship of this day is associated with Lord Ganesha and his vehicle Mooshak. It is believed that Lord Ganesha blesses his devotees with good luck and prosperity on this day. On this day, Lord Ganesha is worshipped for the happiness and prosperity of the family. On the day of Sakta Chauth, women observe a fast and pray for the well-being of their children. Sakat Chauth Puja Vidhi 

The method of worship of Sakat Chauth is very simple and reverential. The fast begins before sunrise and continues till sunset. The method of worship is as follows: 

  • Bathing and purification: On this day, devotees take a bath before sunrise. After taking a bath, wear white clothes and clean the place of worship.
  • Worship Lord Ganesha: The day begins with worshipping Lord Ganesha. Clean the picture or idol of Ganesha and offer roli, sandalwood, turmeric and flowers on it. Along with this, offer the bhog of modak, because modak is very dear to Ganesha.
  • Ingredients: In the worship of Sakat Chauth, especially the Mooshak (the vehicle of Ganesha) is worshipped. Apart from this, the Vrati has to chant Bichuya and Tantra-mantra to attain child happiness.
  • Raw turmeric and water: 4 bales of turmeric should be tied in a cloth and kept in the courtyard of the house. During the puja, it is kept in every corner of the house and the atmosphere of the house is sanctified. On this day, devotees observe a day-long fast and consume only fruits and water. On this day, Lord Ganesha is worshipped for good health and long life of the children. Listening to the story: After the puja, the devotees listen to the story of Sakat Chauth. This legend is associated with Lord Ganesha and his devotees, highlighting the glory and significance of this day.
  • Punya and Daan: After the puja, food should be donated to a Brahmin or poor, so that the virtue of the fast can be fulfilled.
